Purpose of Data Collection

This study aims to collect and process crowdsourced crowding data from Metro Manila’s railway systems to understand how uncertainty visualizations affect commuter decision-making. The collected data will help improve how commuters interpret and respond to crowdedness information in public transportation.

Data Collected

If you agree to participate, the following data may be collected:

  • Location and timestamps from your device.
  • Crowd reports you voluntarily submit through the app.
  • Basic participation metrics used for the leaderboard feature.

How Your Data Will Be Used

All collected information will be used solely for research purposes related to the CrowdCast study. Data will be analyzed to evaluate user interaction and the effectiveness of uncertainty visualizations. No personal identifiers will be published or shared publicly.

Data Storage and Confidentiality

Your data will be securely stored in a private database managed by the researchers. Photos will be processed to remove any identifiable features before storage. Only the researchers and authorized academic personnel will have access to the dataset. Data will not be shared or distributed for any commercial purpose.

Voluntary Participation

Participation in this research is voluntary. You may withdraw from the study at any time without penalty. If you choose to withdraw, any data linked to your participation will be removed from the study’s dataset.

Your Rights

In accordance with the Data Privacy Act of 2012 (RA 10173), you have the right to access, correct, or request deletion of your personal data. You may also inquire about how your information is being processed at any time by contacting the research team.
